My Most Favorite Things

Thanks, Kaylee, for giving me this great idea. Every week I'm going to try to feature someone's most favorite things, starting with me. :) Here are some of my most favorite things...
Converse. They're amazing. In or out, I'll always wear them.

Mario is the coolest goomba-smashing, bowser-defeating, overall-wearing plumber around. What can I say? He's crazy cool.

Epiphone Hollow Body guitars are the most amazing electric guitars on the face of the planet. Come on, you have to admit they're great.

Okay, this is a picture of the inside of my closet. LOL jk! I love Mountain Dew. :)

Okay, you might think that I don't like playing sports very much but that's not necessarily true. I don't like playing sports with balls but I like a lot of different sports like swimming, biking, skateboarding (biking being my favorite.) I also like watching sports on t.v. too, so yeah...

I don't know what I'd do without my ipod, I've superglued and taped it a million times with hopes that it will never die. I've had it for a year and even though it makes strange noises and is held together with glue, I think it'll be around for awhile. ;P
The wii is one of the best inventions ever, I mean lightbulbs and telephones are cool but the wii is cooler.

Okay, one of my most favorite things is definitely music. I love writing it, singing it, playing, listening to it--everything!

The most amazing website ever!!! You should totally check it out.

My most favorite book in the whole world is The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis, I read it when I was eight and I loved it ever since.

The platypus. Nobody likes a platypus. Except me. I think they're cool. ;)

Switchfoot is my favorite band, they're music is amazing and they're really nice.

My very most favorite thing is my Savior.

So that's me, soon I'll have some more posts of other people's most favorite things!

Family Birthday

I really enjoyed watching the Olympics this year and I know a lot of you have too. But now that it's over, I think about how I'll soon be interested in other things and move on to another hype. As a culture, we always seem to move from hype to hype and we never get the satisfaction that we were made for. A lot of us (including me) try to fill our hearts with sports, music, movies when all we need is God. I'll admit, my interests change so quickly, I can't even keep up with them but I know that I'll always be interested in glorifying God because He lasts forever.

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
1 Corinthians 9:25

Last Saturday was the Annual Family Birthday. My great grandma flies down from Chicago to visit every year and we all get together and celebrate our birthdays with her. Here are some pics...

Back to School Beach Party

Summer is one of the greatest things God created and I'll tell you why. There's no school. There's the beach. There's hanging out with friends. There's staying up late and eating Twizzlers for breakfast. But while there are many great things that can be enjoyed during the summer, there comes a time when summer changes, it's a time when notebooks and rulers go on sale at Wal-Mart and people stop planning beach days and then people start asking you the foreboding question: "So, when do you start school?"

Yes, friends, I started school today. I know a lot of you are starting school today and I just wanted to encourage you. I know I've struggled a lot with not working on school as hard as I should be (I still do) but now I try to think of 1 Corinthians 10:31: 'So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.' This year, I'm ready to do hard things and work hard on my school and not settle for 'just okay.' We can glorify God with our school by not complaining about it, getting it done on time and not procrastinating, doing your work carefully, and starting every school day with praying and reading God's Word. :)

So, we had a Back to School Beach Party last Friday. Here are some pics:

Bring on the Bands '08

Hey everyone!

I just want to let you all know that Bring on the Bands ’08 is almost here! It’s going to be happening at the SGC church in Daytona and it will start at 7:00 p.m. and go till 11:00. If your band is thinking about playing, make sure you sign up! August 17th is the deadline for your band to sign up. Also, there has to be at least two people in your band and you can play a maximum of two songs. I know a lot of you haven’t decided what songs you will be playing but once you know, please let me or Kaylee know. There’s going to be games, prizes, snacks, music-it’s going to be a crazy fun night! And, I’d like to clear this up, this is not a competition, it’s just a way of glorifying God with music. So, I hope to see you all there! Don’t forget to invite your friends!

God bless,
Lyssa
